Our Travel Ambassadors

As you may be aware Scouts have a number of high-profile Scout Ambassadors including Ellie Simmonds, Tim Peake and Steve Backshall.

These Scout Ambassadors are committed to raising national awareness of Scouting's invaluable work, helping young people develop skills for life. They help raise the profile of the association, extend their reach and gain influence across the UK.

We have a nominated Travel Ambassador, Gill Clay, the grand daughter of Lord Baden Powell.

Until she was 27, Gill’s home was in Zambia, including rural areas. She came to live in the UK and married Bill Clay and they have a daughter, Daphne, and a son, Rawley, and six grandchildren and some step-grand-children. When Rawley was a Cub he brought Gill into the Scout Movement.

To this day, Gill still visits Scouting events around the world and shares her experiences of scouting. Gill is a member of the Trefoil Guild (Girlguiding “old girls”) and a member of the Olave Baden-Powell Society (the WAGGGS equivalent of the World Scout Foundation of Baden-Powell Fellows for WOSM).

Gill was a Brownie, Guide and Ranger and also, she has been a Brownie, Guide, Ranger, Cub and Beaver Leader and through Scouting and Guiding has visited many countries. She is still a Beaver and a Guide Assistant Leader and still visits Scouting events around the world and shares her experiences of Scouting.
